兩邊先發投手Lamigo史博威與中信伍鐸，賽前評估是五五波，能投長，勝算就高，關鍵是後段牛棚。那麼中信牛棚新秀能擋住多少分數，是雙方勝負的決戰點。以中信的角度觀察，想贏必須在史博威手中多得分，做為牛棚的開銷。至少伍鐸得壓住桃猿打線，尤其是王柏融、林泓育等中心打者的砲火，那麼Lamigo桃猿的殺傷力就不那麼可怕。
當然比賽不可能全按自己想的劇本走。Lamigo先發史博威低球都投不進去，靠偏高速球搶好球數，中信打者似乎早有情蒐，攻擊策略明確，就等他偏高速球進來揮擊，所以前兩棒王威晨和吳東融都打得深遠，雖然結果是接殺，但中信有備而來，是猿不可輕忽的。
中信伍鐸一局下就遭藍寅倫揮出二壘安打，再因林泓育高飛犧牲掉了第一分，主要是配球，而不是他失投造成的。要擔心的反而是Lamigo史博威，好壞明顯容易遭鎖定。
Lamigo得分都跟開路先鋒藍寅倫有關，第三局揮出第二支二壘安打，再靠小胖安打得分，和一局下如出一轍；九下又從中信終結者王鴻程手中揮出清壘二壘安打，藍寅倫是今天Lamigo得分之鑰，也就說沒有藍寅倫Lamigo要寥寥無幾。
原因可能是打線休息太久！10月12日起就沒有正式比賽，隔了16天打台灣大賽，期間有兩次分組對抗賽，不過強度仍無法和正式賽同日而語；另一邊的中信10月23日取得台灣大賽資格後，隔四天和Lamigo對陣，手感都還在。台灣大賽第一場Lamigo打者對伍鐸內角球揮擊都稍慢，選球都不夠謹慎，甚至二遊守備範圍都不夠大，先發與牛棚控球都不如中信兄弟，我認為這是Lamigo輸掉台灣大賽首役的關鍵因素。
伍鐸滑球很有威力，但真正嚴重的是，桃猿讓他先搶到好球數，前兩顆用內角速球壓迫打者，對手感還沒進入狀況的桃猿就顯得相當棘手，去對付他的武器球便相當吃力。原本對伍鐸打得出色的郭嚴文和朱育賢沒有表現，「柏融大王」只有一安打，整個打線有了斷層，得分當然不容易。
反觀中信打者攻擊策略設定的飯店比價好，選球比Lamigo冷靜，史博威投甜的球都沒放過，他有夠威的二縫線速球和滑曲球，但控球不理想，遭連續安打加上守備沒幫忙，投起來更吃力。二局上詹子賢靠失誤上壘，從慢動作比較是一壘手沒踩好壘包，然後保送張志豪，開啟了中信的反撲。而這都可以說，是球隊還沒上軌道的跡象。
當然中信贏也贏在球隊士氣處在高峰，不論老將、新秀不受場外風波的影響，從對獅的挑戰賽，就以冷靜和衝勁打出新中信「團體戰」的球風，讓爪爪們在風暴中找到看球的樂趣。到底這支新秀為主的球隊，能在台灣大賽創造多大的奇蹟？是今年球迷最末的一大棒球高潮。
